DESIGN OF AN ACOUSTIC BARRIER • GÖTEBORG, SWEDEN

Analysis of the urban soundscape of the Hjalmar Brantingsgatan in Göteborg was performed to assess the acoustic environment as a combination of all acoustic resources within the area (nature and manmade). The urban fabric is typologically characterized as buildings blocks with closed or partially closed yard. The typical height of the buildings on the location is around 10-21.5 m, the width of the street is 25 m, giving the height to width ratio (H/W) of the canyons of approximately 1. The presence of the narrower courtyards leads to the choice of a second geometry with a courtyard width of 14 m (H/W ≈ 1.8).
